Job Title: Emergency Response Coordinator

Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager, or their designate, the Emergency Response Coordinator is accountable to provide technical and supervisory leadership to the Emergency Response program in accordance with the Health, Safety & Reclamation Code for Mines in British Columbia (HSRC) and any applicable Industry guidelines and best practices. The coordinator works with the existing Mine Rescue team members, ensuring the training guidelines are followed and the team and equipment are prepared to respond to all types of emergencies.

This is a seasonal position, the anticipated employment duration, will depend on the workload and the construction season.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

Leadership and Training

  • Provide leadership to a volunteer emergency response team through coaching, mentoring, and onsite training.
  • Enable the team to respond to fire, medical, rescue, environmental, and other emergencies at a remote mining facility.

Incident Response and Command

  • Act as Incident Commander during emergencies, leading the team in response measures and site control.
  • Perform various rescue operations, including:
    • Surface Mine Rescue
    • Confined Space Rescue
    • Personnel Extraction
    • Vehicle and Equipment Incidents
    • Firefighting
    • High Angle/Rope Rescue
    • SCBA Use
    • Hazmat Response
    • Land-Based Spill Response
    • Aircraft Accidents
    • Search and Rescue for Missing Persons
  • Provide technical expertise in risk assessments and emergency response procedure development.
  • Ensure monitoring systems are in place and conduct periodic fire safety and emergency response reviews.

This is a site-based camp job at the Eskay Creek Mine site. This position involves working at a remote mine site on a 15 days on/13 days off rotation.
